2020.09.18 08:15 Whalerider28 Amplifier recommendations for Akai SW-157ii speakers

Amplifier recommendations for Akai SW-157ii speakers
Hi there, I am looking for some amplifier recommendations to help finalize my first setup, and general recommendations on my set up as a whole.
I have just recently purchase a set of Akai SW-157ii speakers (pictured) which fortunately seem to be in pretty good nick and IMO look gorgeous with the covers off. Supposedly these require 8 Ohms and between 20 to 80 watts for the power supply.
I will be pairing this with an Audio Technica AT LP60xbt turntable that my partner has recently gifted me.
I am based in New Zealand and don't really have a clue as to where to start with the amp search. Ideally something with 2 inputs so I can run a dedicated turntable feed, and an aux cord for my laptop / phone for the other. My budget is around $200.00 - 300.00 NZD and I would like something that will be in fitting with the rest of my current system. Open to both new and second hand options.
Does any one have a similar set of Akai speakers and has found something that is an absolute must have pairing, or specific tips and tricks so I can get the best out of the system.
This will be setup in my bedroom so not a massive space by any means.
Thanks in advance!

2020.08.24 06:44 JRidders Investment Direction - input appreciated

Hi would really appreciate some wisdom on where to start investing for retirement
background- 29yo, looking to live in NZ/aus for the foreseeable future. Earn 80k pa at present
I would like to some money in each month into a passive index/ETF for next 20-30 years - So I'm doing something smart and non stressful for retirement
I have just started paying into kiwi saver 6% - Juno ( as it's free until i have 5000) then I may switch to Simplicity
where/what is the most cost effective way of investing in a Vanguard ETF or similar paying in monthly for the above timescale. I've tried to do some research looking at hatch, stake and Invest now for this purpose but I can't seem to find any clarity.
I may go over to the Aus after the covid situation normalizes- but I very much love NZ so I would guess this is where I will come back later down the line, If this effects which platform I should use?
Note: Currently we have saved between me and my partner just shy of 200k nzd total - We would like to buy a section/decent small house in Chch/nelson so maybe we should put what we have into this first before starting investing in the retirement fund?

Any advice/ input would be great.

thanks a lot!

2020.08.23 03:54 vexca Suggest me a car/ute

Hi Team,
I'm looking at getting a second vehicle for mixed uses outside of commuting and would like some suggestions as to what might fit best.
Main uses would be:
Cart around the two dogs. Be able to carry camping gear. Some mild off road capability as we live in new zealand. Be able to pick up stuff from the hardware store on occasion. Take rubbish and greenery to the dump on occasion as my partner wants to do the classic DIY stuff around home.
I do have a friends trailer available to use but my mind keep leaning towards a Ute as I feel it provides the most utility for my needs without having to go out of my way.
No preference for manual/auto, petrol or diesel.
Have 9k NZD available maximum.

2020.08.07 17:52 insert-username-2020 Best way to use $2800 NZD ???

I am getting a tax refund of $2800 NZD and I would love some advice on how best to use this money.
Now please don't ask or judge my finacial situation, please just offer advice!
Facts:
Should I pay off debts? Put it into savings? Invest?
I am 26, I have never had $2800 ever. The most I have ever saved is 1500$. I live week to week. Struggling to get by. Life is hard. Applying for jobs everyday. I was was working pre covid earning 550 per week after tax. Now I get 300$ per week unemployed benefits. Partner still working full time, he is covering rent and bills at the moment bless his heart.
Hopefully find a job asap!
Thank you!
Be safe out there :)

2020.07.16 21:35 Al2019 What is the best/cheapest way to invest in ETFs?

I have been investing in ETFs through Direct Broking (old ANZ) jointly with my partner however I was wondering if there was a cheaper platform we could use.
I had a look a InvestNow but I was not able to get much info regarding their fees without creating an account.
With Direct Broking, we pay an one-off fee of NZD$29.90 for NZX ad AUD$29 ASX. We invest in chunks of $3,000+ so the fees are no more than 1% for us per purchase.

2020.07.03 10:09 ogomalley Permission to quit my job, please?

I'm 25, earning $75K NZD ($49K USD), and I can't stand my job.
I've had depression and persistent anxiety for a couple of years, and I finally felt a sense of hope yesterday when I decided I could quit and study a language, work out, survive winter, and move to China to be with my partner as soon as possible.
I have around $75K in liquid savings and $20K locked in a superannuation fund. I need around $350 per week to live comfortably and my partner is willing to give me up to $250 per week to support me while I try and lift myself up a little. I have no passion, and no real talent, so it's not as though there's another avenue I've been trying to pursue so I can get out. I just want to stop. I sob on the bus to work some mornings. I stay up late so I can do anything else with my time.
Nearly my entire sense of self-worth is rooted in money, so this is a terrifying prospect. I spoke to a counsellor yesterday and she thinks it would be a good idea to leave. I felt that I needed to stay at my job for 2 years so my CV doesn't look so flaky, and I've done that, plus finished an additional relevant ertiary qualification (on top of a BSc in psych). I think I'll be fine getting another job at some stage, though Covid-19 is making me a bit nervous. We have a family business I can help out with (no pay), but really I just want to get to China.
Am I going to regret this forever? If my partner loses his job and I can't find any other work am I going to totally fuck up my life? Do I need to just get over myself?
Any advice or perspective would be great.

2020.06.25 18:33 diyexageh Banca internacional #02 GB UK IM JE – United Kingdom, where it all began

Background e intro

En particular, Isle of Man, Jersey, The Bailiwick of Guernsey, Stark y Gibraltar.

Costo Mensual: £0.
Underfunding: £0 o £60 dependiendo de la cuenta.
Divisas: GBP, USD, EUR, AUD.
Divisas exoticas: ZAR, DKK, JPY, CAD, NOK, SEK, CHF, AED, HKD, NZD, SGD.

Balance mínimo: N/A.
Costo Mensual: £0.
Underfunding: £0.
Divisas: GBP, USD, EUR.
Divisas exóticas: No.
Notas extra: Disponible en Isle of Man y Jersey

Lloyds bank International
https://international.lloydsbank.com/
Balance mínimo: N/A.
Underfunding: N/A.
Divisas: GBP, USD, EUR.
Notas extra: Disponible en Isle of Man, Jersey y Gibraltar.

HSBC Expat (Previamente HSBC Offshore markets limited)
https://www.expat.hsbc.com
Balance mínimo: £5,000, US$5,000 o €10,000.
Costo Mensual: £0.
Underfunding: £35.
Divisas: GBP, USD, EUR.
“Premier in one Premier in all” es valido en Argentina.

Barclays Bank International
https://international.barclays.com/
Ya no acepta clientes de Argentina lamentblemente.

Investec International
https://www.investec.com/en_gb/banking/offshore-bank-account.html
Otro banco Sudafricano.

https://www.natwestinternational.com/personal/products/international-customers.html

First National Bank (FNB)
https://www.fnbci.co.uk/

Starling
Banking license: Si.
Depositors insurance: Si. £85.000.

2020.05.02 12:39 David_Lange /r/neoliberal elects the New Zealand Parliament - Part 2, 1928 (The era of three parties)

Welcome back to /neoliberal elects the New Zealand Parliament!
As I said before, I'm going over the highlights of New Zealand's political history in NL elects style. This week is 1928. In the wake of this election, it was not any more to be two parties that dominated New Zealand politics, but a combination of three - until, that is, the Great Depression, which will be the next edition of this series.
Previous results:
1911 (Beginning of the party system): Liberals 64%, Reform 22%, Labour 15%
Result: Liberal majority government
irl result: Reform won the most seats, and the Liberals only hung onto their government for another year before being replaced by a Reform government that would last for 16 years.
1928
Main parties: Reform Party, United Party, Labour Party, Country Party
Wikipedia articles:
Reform: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reform_Government_of_New_Zealand
United: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Party_(New_Zealand)
Labour: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_Labour_Party
Country: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_Party_(New_Zealand)
Context: The Reform Party were the first conservative party in New Zealand, formed to combat the dominance the Liberal Party had over New Zealand politics for 20 years. In 1912, a year after the 1911 election, the Liberals lost the confidence of their independent partners in Parliament, and for the first time in 21 years, New Zealand had a new government. Reform went on to rule for the next 16 years, which may indicate that New Zealanders at this time rather enjoyed their governments to experience longevity. The bulk of these years of government was dominated by the Prime Minister William Massey, an authentic farming boy from south of Auckland. Despite his full name being "William Ferguson Massey", the Massey Ferguson tractor company bears no relation to the Prime Minister. He died in office in 1925.
Meanwhile, the Liberals' historic popularity was flagging. There was dissent in the ranks and several MPs over the 16 years defected to the side of Reform, propping up that government during its weaker moments. The popularity of the Liberals amongst farmers had been decapitated by the Reform government's surge in support in that sector, and their urban working-class base was slowly being eaten away by Labour. The original big tent party found it's tent slowly shrinking. In 1925, the Liberals suffered their worst-ever electoral defeat, winning only 11 seats in the 80-seat House of Representatives, less even than the uppity Labour Party, who also won more of the popular vote than them. A faction within the party rebranded the Liberals as "United New Zealand Political Organisation", and brought in organisers from both the conservative side of the labour movement and the Reform Party, hoping to help bring back that big tent energy from the original Liberal days. As a compromise between these competing interests, the old Liberal finance minister and Prime Minister Joseph Ward was brought back, despite worsening health, to lead the United party.
The Labour party had been leaping from strength to strength in the Reform government years. In 1912, a "unity conference" was held between the Labour Party of Parliament, holding four seats, and various other disparate labour organisations. Despite refusals to attend by the Socialists and the "Red Feds" Federation of Labour, the conference led to the formation of the United Labour Party, and eventually, in 1916, the modern Labour Party was born, in a stunning and never-before-seen show of left unity. The move paid off, and between the 1914 and 1919 elections, Labour-aligned members of Parliament surged from a combined 8% of the vote to a huge 24%. They were to supersede the Liberals as the second biggest party in Parliament at the 1925 election. A radical socialist, Harry Holland, led the party throughout this period.
Policies:
(Apologies in advance for the lack of detail on a lot of these policies)
Reform (I can't find what their campaign promises were so I'll highlight their government's policies):
  • In the 1912 Waihi Miner's strike and the 1913 waterfront worker's strike, the government came down hard on the workers to break the strikes. In general, the government struck a hard line against organised labour.
  • Acquiescing to the influence of the prohibition movement, the drinking age was set at 21 in 1914.
  • In 1919, women became eligible to run for Parliament. They had had the vote since 1893.
  • Pensions systems were introduced for war widows and miner's widows.
  • The school leaving age was raised to 14.
  • Various new pensions and social programmes were set up, alongside the ones established by the Liberal party.
  • Farm products were placed under the control of central boards.
  • Conscription was introduced in 1916 to help in WWI. This move was strongly opposed by many members of the labour movement.
United:
  • During 1928, a recession was gripping the country. In an address, the leader Joseph Ward promised that his government would borrow seventy million pounds if elected to help assuage the problems faced by the country (an amount of over $7 billion NZD today, or around 7% of the modern government income). This was significantly more money than the orthodox Reform government was willing to spend - but some suspect that the aging Joseph Ward had misread his notes, which actually said seven million pounds.
  • I can't find any more records of United Party policy online, sadly. It can probably be assumed that they'd be slightly more pro-worker than Reform, and elements of the business community were coalescing around them due to some strong licensing measures the Reform party introduced.
  • Before the election, they promised to work with the Labour party if necessary to get Reform out of power.
Labour:
  • Labour strongly opposed the conscription that reform had introduced in 1916 with the help of the Liberals. Indeed, many of their parliamentary leaders had been arrested and jailed over it. Although those measures were over in peacetime, that was their implicit policy for any potential future war.
  • Labour was still very radical at this time, especially with actual socialist Harry Holland in charge, and no doubt still supported the minimum wage, central bank, and mass nationalisation that had been cornerstones of their 1911 policies.
  • They stopped short of proposing the nationalisation of all farmland, as it had served unpopular in earlier elections.
Country:
  • Country was formed by a group of farmers who believed Reform was putting too much emphasis on their inner-city business interests. They believed in advocating entirely for rural and farming interests.
  • Many farmers believed that the city-based financial system of New Zealand was unfair towards them. The new Country party supported the Social Credit theories of C. H. Douglas, which advocated for the end of conventional banking and moneylending, to be replaced by debt-free credit distribution to all New Zealanders, and a centralised price adjustment system to forestall inflation indefinitely.
Māori issues:
Much of what I mentioned last time for Māori issues is relevant this time as well. However, by 1928, a new Māori political movement had risen in New Zealand - the Rātana movement. This was spearheaded by a religious prophet named Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana. The Rātana movement was a both a Christian-derived religious movement, and an expressly political one. Rātana declared the four Māori seats: Southern, Western, Eastern, and Northern to be four key foundational aspects of his religion, and commanded four of his followers to campaign for a win these seats to advance the political interests of Rātana in Parliament. These interests included the government honouring the long-neglected Treaty of Waitangi, addressing the unfair confiscations of Māori land, and in general improving the lot of the colonised Māori people. I don't claim to understand much of the Rātana movement and it's spirituality, but there is no doubt they had huge political success in the Māori realm. They contested all four Māori seats for the first time in the 1928 election, and came second in all of them. The Southern Māori seat was almost won by Rātana's Eruera Tirikatene, but he lost it by a single vote. Amusingly enough, his family had been unable to vote due to being held up at Rātana Pa helping with the wheat harvest.
(Eruera would win the seat in 1932, and held it until his death in 1967. His daughter then held the seat for a further 30 years, and today, his grandson holds the modern equivalent of the seat. The other Rātana candidates would have similar successes in later elections.)
I haven't included Rātana in this poll because they were a relatively niche party, and didn't end up winning any seats like the other parties did.
My sincerest apologies for the lack of detailed policy this time. These old elections are hard to research, so hopefully that issue becomes smaller in later elections.

My country, New Zealand, has a population of 4 million and only 500k essential workers have been outside in the last four weeks. We have been in near total lockdown for the past four weeks.
Essential workers include posties, truckies, couriers, hospitals, drug stores (we call them chemists/pharmacies)
Also essential are supermarkets, food production, telcos, certain factories, gas stations and small local food shops (we call dairies)
We restrict the number of people in pharmacies, dairies and supermarkets with a one in one out policy.
Schools and childcare facilities have closed. Cafes, restaurants, butchers, green grocers have all been closed. All shops and malls are shut.
The only online orders allowed are for essential clothes, blankets, heaters, computers, whiteware. It is autumn here.
The only reasons for going outside are to exercise in our local neighbourhoods, to go food shopping or to doc/drug store. Or to work if essential worker. People are deterred from driving more than 10 minutes to exercise.
Non essential workers are working from home.
Police set up random road blocks and warn those travelling for any non-essential purpose. Charges are laid for breaching the lockdown after ignoring multiple warnings. State of emergency powers are in force. Government, both local and national, has been running via webcam.
Tomorrow the government will decide whether to allow food takeaways and purchases in the form of contactless pick ups and to extend limited recreational activities.
11 have died. All aged in 70s and 80s with other health conditions. We have 16 active clusters. 1400 infected. 20 in hospital. Four nurses infected. Three from overseas travel. Almost 600 recovered. Most infected are 20 year olds. We have an aging population of baby boomers.
Illegal indigenous community road blocks have been set up in small vulnerable communities to attempt to convince people not to spread the virus with non-essential trips. Although technically illegal, many politicians and police have equipped them with warning signs and safety vests.
Non-citizens/residents have been banned from entering the country for the last four weeks.
Residents who do return are escorted to government run hotels for two weeks enforced quarantine. Repatriation flights cost 5.5k nzd per seat.
The government is paying wages up to 500 nzd per week for businesses which have lost 30 percent revenue. 10 billion nzd has been paid out so far. The largest industry is tourism. Other large industries involve export of food and wood. China is the largest trading partner.

2020.03.25 06:15 DayWalkernini Stake pricing and comparison?

Hi,
Firstly, thank you for spelling out all your fees like that.
Trying to understand the Stake pricing, assuming AUD will become NZD and that some fees are only applicable under very specific circumstances:
h**ps://hellostake.com/pricing/
h**ps://hellostake.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Pricing-PDF-Update-3.pdf

At first glance, this seems to add up to quite a bit of $'s over time - how does this compare to Hatch fees?
h**ps://help.hatchinvest.nz/en/articles/1804694-what-are-your-fees

Also, how does this fee structure compare to NZ's other platforms (where relevant of course, so same funds like US500, etc)? InvestNow, Simplicity, etc
Getting a good grip on this will help me, and many others, to determine whether Stake is indeed a good alternative, or not.
Many thanks,
Day

2020.02.26 22:24 Kiwi-in-CH Financial implications of moving back to NZ from OE (saving overseas vs NZ)

My partner and I are receiving some advice/pressure to move back to NZ from our extended OE and I want to use this sub as a sounding board on the financial aspects of staying away from NZ.
I graduated from an NZ uni in 2015 and moved to London, with my partner (same age). We moved from London to Zurich (for work) within the last year.
We both have pretty normal jobs, one in HR for a multinational company and the other a financial analyst at a similar company.
Gross salaries of CHF 120k (NZD 190k) and CHF 100k (NZD 160k)
Total combined after tax/deductions salary per month is NZD$23,000.
Rent is $3200 (incl house bills).
Other bills $1500 (incl mandatory health insurance).
Transport $300.
Food is $1000.
Entertainment/going out/saving for holidays/misc is $2000.
We currently have $250k saved for a house deposit and since moving to Zurich we are adding about $15,000 per month to it. Pensions in UK and Switzerland, as well as small kiwisavers (total $40k).
We both think, (but don't necessarily know) that we would much better off financially staying in Switzerland for a couple of years, then being able to put down a 40%-60% deposit on a property in NZ, when we move back.
Is this as simple as thinking - "our total pre-tax income in NZ will be less than $200k, therefore we could never save $15k a month, we should make hay will the sun shines and move back later"?
Should we worry about people saying that we're letting the NZ housing market run away without us?
Any glaring errors, things we haven't thought of?
Cheers

Well I purchased btc from CoinGate/Simplex using a credit card and I am starting to regret. I thought it would be the "easiest way to buy btc with credit card" according to their website... So here's the process, they ask for your wallet address, then, all you credit card info, then a selfie of you holding the credit card, then they withdraw funds, and ask for more info like upload of image of you DL, as I was doing this the site crashed, but they withdrew the $$ from my bank account. I got one email from simplex stating--- basically they take your money without verifying!!! Like if you can't handle amount if transactions, DO NOT take peoples money. NOT COOL!!!
"Thank you for submitting your payment. It is currently being verified. Simplex payment ID: XXXX XXX XX X XXXX Please note the this verification process may take some time. We appreciate your patience, as we are fully committed to ensure you receive a quick response. So, what’s going on with your money now? Simplex is currently verifying your transaction. It is possible that you will notice a charge in your credit card account. This is only an authorization check, automatically made in order to reserve the amount in case the payment is approved. If the payment doesn't go through (cancelled, expired or failed), this authorization check will be voided in no more than 48 hours, and you will not see the charge in your account.

Simplex is 100% Scam I have exactly the same issue, exactly same replies from them, generic emails. 1 month after no resolution and my ticket deleted. Credit card charged no Crypto no $ returned. I have requested my bank to reverse transaction. What i think is going to happen is that Australian banks will start declining transactions to crypto wallets.
Other thing is i think we should punish this sort of fckrs We could start a class action lawsuit: https://www.consumer-action.org/lawsuits/

I saw this post as soon as I made €200 payment via Changelly and I was scared to death that I've lost money again. However, while I was here worrying and going through the post, little didi I know that an email had been sent to me that the verification was successful and that my BTC would be deposited into my wallet soon and voila, I checked my wallet and I found the BTC there. I'm talking about less than 20 minutes here guys, so you can't imagine my joy, it was as if somebody gave me money.
My take: Those that encountered problem could be due to the fact that they are mostly Non-European holders and that Simplex has problem linking well with USD cards, I live in Europe and they are European based company, so they might find it easier to integrate well with European SEPA cards (in my own case). It could also be that they had major transaction problems before which has now been resolved. All these are just my assumptions, so disregard anything that sounds like jargons t you.
Cheers.

Credit card charged after payment request cancellation from Changelly
I wanted to exchange money from Changelly using my credit card, so I went through the process. I was taken to SIMPLEX API and entered my details; however I did not get to upload my picture holding the card for verification and decided to CANCEL the payment.
To my surprise, my money was WITHDRAWN from my account regardless. I've checked with my bank and they have confirmed this.
I emailed support 12 hours ago and still waiting for someone to have the kindness to reply.
I received a follow up URL when I emailed support, however it does not go anywhere. I am also not allowed to login or register using my Changelly email address AND on top of that social media login does not work either.
I am getting very anxious due to the large number of complaints, so I am wondering how long to wait for a payment reversal transaction before initiating a dispute through my bank; I did not buy any coins and ended up with a charge of $2,072.69 NZD on my credit card.
Payment cancellation email I received was as follows:
Dear xxxx, Your payment request from Changelly has been cancelled. You chose to cancel the payment. Simplex payment ID: aa16338a-a0e9-448d-b6f4-7e85bbfe0279 For more information, contact us at... or visit our FAQ section at simplex.com/ faq. Please do not try to reach Simplex's support using any other method (such as social media), as you might be mislead by imposters ...
Should I hear from Simplex I'll let you all know by posting here and I am more than happy to amend my rating; at this stage this is purely based on the support I've received from them, and of course the unhappiness of my credit card being charged without having purchased anything
I'll appreciate any feedback from guys. Cheers, Jose.

I've been going through this same scenario as everyone else here. Went through Mycelium to by bitcoin on the 10th of this month. Was sent to simplex for verification. Stayed in touch with their customer service and was told it could take 2 to 3 days. Had to send photo of license and everything else. Was planning on contacting them again tomorrow and then having cc charge back if nothing happened.
Well I just received an email that my payment was cancelled due to changes in BTC rate. I'm happy to report that my money has been returned to my card (i use a secured cc cause I was a fool in my younger days, not that much has changed). I just wanted to report this to give some of you hope. The last 2 days I've been stressful as hell. It was less then $100 but for me that's a lot of money to lose. Good luck to you all.

I didn't do my due diligence, and never heard of SIMPLEX defrauding Bitcoin consumers. And so, I exchanged around a c-note into BTC through SIMPLEX.com on 02/21/2018, and the funds appeared in my Wallet within a few hours.... So maybe they don't scam everyone???

A more appropriate description for simplex would be money launderers. I have made over 10 debit card transactions with Simplex - the charges are authorized by my bank and then Simplex, for some inexplicable reason, will credit back my account for that exact amount with no explanation given. I have completed all the required verifications so simplex knows that the charge is being made from my debit card. basically money goes from my bank to simplex and simplex returns that exact amount to my bank.
Give AwardShareReportSavelevel 1[deleted]1 point· 1 year ago
Was going to make a small purchase earlier (~$100) but I wasn't aware they would require a photo of my ID. This isn't happening, no chance in hell. The "live chat" available on their site is fully automated, makes no difference what your question is you'll get standard pre determined responses. I've received an e-mail stating my transaction has been cancelled due to my not providing the proper ID - in the same e-mail it says my card should not have been changed yet, even though it already has. Be careful with this one, SCAM.

I sent in almost 100 dollars. They of course wanted photos of my ID so of course I sent them. They immediately sent an email saying that they were not good enough quality try again. So I took pics of it again. Then 6 hours later then declined my payment and accused me of fraud, "called me a fraudster", but still charged my card.
Your payment request has been declined.
Please note that we do not disclose the reason for declined payments. This is because unfortunately we have seen these reasons being used by fraudsters to create fraudulent transactions.
For your reference:
Simplex payment ID: 1f577e5b-f128-4571-9573-2b18d1d32414
For any questions, please contact us by chat at simplex.com or email at [email protected]. Please do not try to reach Simplex's support using any other method (such as social media), as you might be misled by imposters. Please always refer to your Simplex ID when contacting support.
Please note that your credit card has NOT been charged. The funds have been placed on authorization hold in order to reserve the amount in case the payment was approved. Since your transaction has been declined, this authorization check will be voided. This typically takes the bank 48-72 business hours (not including Saturday or Sunday). Please let us know if you do not see the funds released after that time.
Sincerely,
The Simplex Team

I am so disappointed with Simplex. I have bough ETH previously and all was fine. Now 18 days later and no sign of my 5+ ETH. I had to work out the problem - even though they confirm I bought ETH it was put on the Blockchain without the ETH code 0x!!!
Their response oh it will take some time to resolve on hitBTC - they sent the wrong message....which I had to identify!!!

After 5 weeks chasing and chasing and chasing.
I have been scammed £3000 when I only wanted 1 x $1800 - do the maths.
When it didn't arrive I eventually was advised it was sent by "contract" by SIMPLEX which HITBTC "were not set up for" but it would arrive in my account. SIMPLEX are HITBTC's preferred agent but take no responsibility for delivery.
It would be applied to my wallet "manually". 4 weeks later I am finally advised....
Tonight I am advised that it has been applied to a wallet not related to my account.
Day after day I have chased politely .... after 5 weeks I lost out on EOS and have lost my £3000.

Hi Guys,
Update for Sooty17. After 38 days and over 40 emails to Simplex and HITBTC I finally have my coins!
I seem to have finally gained traction through [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) though I have had so many explanations as to where the coins where I wont know anything conclusive.
Anyway happy to get my coins at last. And keep trying!

2020.01.24 00:17 PilchardRhymeMan Mid-life career change - Grad Diploma Data Science? (x-post r/career)

I’m going to keep this short at the expense of context but can always enlarge on that in the thread.
Asking here rather than something like “datascience” or "career” because they’re US-focused and only marginally applicable to the NZ environment. Particularly appreciative of opinions from anyone working or employing in the field.
Background
The situation
Questions
TL;DR: If I'm losing my mojo in present employ in IT space in mid-40s, is it worth dropping 20K+ on a Grad Certificate or 40K+ on a Grad Diploma in Data Science from UNSW to re-up the career until I punch-out in 15-20 years?
Thanks!

2019.12.16 20:35 DaedalianGirl Want to gift experience for christmas - need help!

Using my alt account, as my partner knows my main. Tried to search the sub, but hope this gets more to the point.
I hope you guys can help me. We gonna come from overseas to Auckland in April and stay for 2 weeks and I'd like to gift my partner a fully planned day with lots of fun activities and beautiful experiences!
As you may know some tips that cannot be found in the average google search I'm sure you have some great suggestions and I'd be really thankful for any input!
First I was thinking about a day trip to one of the islands and to go hiking with a picnic. Even though that's nice, it is hardly something we would not do anyway. So I'd wanted to beef it up somehow with an experience voucher, or a fun / sport activity like kayaking (he does not like heights, so bungee jumping etc is out of questions unfortunately). Or could you give me some feedback to my ideas, regarding wildlife safety and weather? We do not want to do things that are only offered for tourists and disturb the environment (e.g. cage diving to see sharks). Budget would be NZD$200 for the both of us.
These are my ideas so far. Do you have any tips around Auckland that can make a great day trip or special experience that is not so common? Thanks a lot in adnvance!
